Joseph Stoltz is a military historian with more than twenty years of experience in the public and academic history fields.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he holds a doctorate in history from Texas Christian University and a bachelors and master in history from the University of New Orleans.

His first book, A Bloodless Victory is in an examination of the politicization of history and its effects on commemoration.

He is currently the Digital Humanities Postdoctoral Researcher in the Center for the Study of Guns and Society at Wesleyan University. He is the former director of the George Washington Leadership Institute at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and a former professor at the United States Military Academy.
